Giving

Please prayerfully consider supporting the ministries and mission of the Diocese of Sacramento. Below is a selection of Bishop Soto's priority initiatives. Your generosity is most appreciated.

Diocese of Sacramento Fire Assistance Fund

In light of the Northern California fires that have devastated various parts of our Diocese—from the Carr Fire to the most recent Camp Fire—Bishop Jaime Soto has asked the faithful of the Diocese of Sacramento to remember in their prayers all those affected, especially the firefighters and emergency personnel, as well as residents who have been displaced, lost their residences or evacuated. Please keep all those communities affected by fires in your prayers and pray for those suffering loss during these catastrophic events. Camp Fire Student Fund

We are opening our schools to students from Butte County schools who have been displaced by the Camp Fire. We will offer any open desks we have to these students tuition-free for the remainder the 2018-19 academic year. We would be appreciative if you would join us in sponsoring these students with a donation of any amount. Though it is difficult to project an exact need, we will use funds for such things as uniforms, school materials, hot lunches, field trips, and other expenses associated with educating a child, as well as material and tuition relief for our currently enrolled school families in need. Any surplus will be used for future support for these affected families and Catholic schools of the region.

Annual Catholic Appeal

The Annual Catholic Appeal is our tradition of being faithful to the thousands of neighbors who need us. Not everyone can be on the frontlines of charity. Through the Appeal, we can all keep Mercy in Motion by helping a vibrant network of dedicated Catholic social service agencies – and our own parishes – care for families and individuals who struggle in poverty here in Northern California.

Giving to the Newman Centers and College Ministry

Newman Centers and College Ministry

Young adults in their twenties are at a critical juncture in their lives and Newman Centers can be instrumental in helping them discover God’s plan for them. A vibrant Newman community attracts Catholic and non-Catholic students, leading to both new and recommitted Catholics. Simply having Newman Centers is not enough. Your gift helps to sustain the newly implemented student led governance model and helps provide much-needed capital improvements to the centers in Chico, Davis and Sacramento.

Giving to Vocations

Vocations

The Christian faithful have an obligation to foster vocations to the priesthood and the religious life by living faithfully the call to holiness, by holding vocations to the priesthood and the religious life in esteem, and by encouraging young men and women to consider the possibility of a call from God to the ordained or consecrated states. Your gift helps to offset the rising cost of education for seminarians currently in formation to serve as priests in our diocese.

Priest's Retirement Fund

With demand for retired priest care projected to continue, this is our opportunity to take care of those who, within our own diocese, have spent their lives caring for our spiritual and sacramental needs, and to thank them for their long and loving service.

Nurturing a well-educated community that embodies the Gospel values of Christ is key to ensuring the future of our church. If our children are to become tomorrow’s leaders and active contributors to our church and our world, it is essential that all of our schools are high-quality institutions, in terms of both academics and faith formation.
