March-April 2023 issue of Catholic Herald magazine is published

The March-April 2023 issue of Catholic Herald magazine has been published. The theme for this issue is haven of grace. The digital edition of the magazine is available at https://catholicmagazines.org/magazine-archive/catholic-herald/sac0323

In the cover story of this issue, readers meet Anthony Jackson, interim principal of St. Robert School, and Father Michael Ritter, parochial administrator of St. Robert Parish in Sacramento, who collaborate in their roles to make sure everyone is safe on the parish campus. They speak with Catholic Herald magazine to offer insight into their program's influence on the larger organizational culture, and the profoundly positive and far-reaching experience of building trust throughout the community.

"We honor the trust that's invested in us," Father Michael says, describing their deep respect for the faith placed in the parish and school. But more than words, honoring the trust of children, families and the entire community takes the form of "an uncompromising approach" to building trust through transparency. The phrase resonates as somewhat of an unofficial philosophy and a top-of-mind mantra for the work at hand -- trust through transparency.

Other stories in this issue include Bishop Jaime Soto's column on "St. Paul's insight about the body of Christ has personal implications for all of us"; a special report with "Questions and Answers -- Owning and atoning for the sin of clergy abuse; a feature on how the diocese's Independent Review Board remains dedicated to strong policies and procedures to prevent and address sexual abuse and keeping children safe; an interview with Cara Morales, a professional clinical counselor, about guiding teens in today's 'chaotic' world; and a special report on "Empowering our children: Creating a community of trusted adults."

Columns in this issue include "Teens Living Well: Keeping God present in your mental health"; Parenting on "Digital Discipleship for Kids"; and Grow on "Share your stories of encountering Jesus with young people."

Bishop Jaime Soto is the publisher of Catholic Herald magazine, which is published six times each year and includes moving faith stories about Catholics in the diocese, as well as news and events of the local church. Individual faith stories are the cornerstone of the magazine and columns also explore the Catholic faith and education about church teachings.
