More than 800 years ago, St. Francis of Assisi made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and the Middle East seeking to bring the wisdom and peace of the Lord Jesus to the region. As the people of the Holy Land, Iran and all the region of the Middle East endure the mounting violent conflagration, the humble testimony of the Holy Poverello urges us to continue the spiritual works of prayer, fasting, and works of mercy relying on the divine mercy of God to bring forth the fruits of reconciliation and peace. The alarming, destructive havoc afflicting our brothers and sisters makes our Lenten observance more urgent.
Pope Francis, in his encyclical on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Dilexit Nos, quoted Saint John Paul urging us to entrust ourselves to the heart of Christ in doing the work of reparation in this troubled world.
Saint John Paul explained that by entrusting ourselves together to the heart of Christ, “over the ruins accumulated by hatred and violence, the greatly desired civilization of love, the Kingdom of the heart of Christ, can be built”. (DN, 182)
We ask our Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of Peace, to intercede for us and all those gripped the ravages of this deepening conflict. We pray for the innocent and the safety of our troops. We pray as well for our leaders. May the wisdom, mercy, and courage of the Lord Jesus open new pathways of dialogue and peaceful engagement so that the work of peace may commence.

May the gentle Shepherd and merciful Lord bring a quick cessation to the hostile turmoil erupting in Iran and throughout the Middle East. May divine wisdom light the path to reconciliation and mutual understanding. We pray to the Lord.
Hace más de 800 años, San Francisco de Asís hizo una peregrinación a Tierra Santa y Medio Oriente buscando llevar la sabiduría y la paz del Señor Jesús a la región. Mientras la gente de Tierra Santa, de Irán y de toda la región del Medio Oriente sufren el creciente y violento conflicto, el humilde testimonio del Santo Poverello nos suplica a continuar las obras espirituales de oración, ayuno y obras de misericordia, confiando en la divina misericordia de Dios para que traiga los frutos de reconciliación y de paz. La alarmante y destructiva devastación que aflige a nuestros hermanos y hermanas hace que nuestro cumplimiento de la Cuaresma sea más urgente.
El Papa Francisco, en su encíclica sobre el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, Dilexit Nos, citó a San Juan Pablo suplicándonos a encomendarnos al corazón de Cristo para realizar la obra de reparación en este mundo atribulado.
San Juan Pablo II explicó que, entregándonos junto al Corazón de Cristo, «sobre las ruinas acumuladas por el odio y
la violencia, se podrá construir la tan deseada civilización del amor, el reino del Corazón de Cristo» (DN, 182).
Rogamos a nuestra Santísima Madre María, Reina de la Paz, que interceda por nosotros y por todos aquellos afectados por los efectos de este conflicto cada vez más profundo. Oremos por los inocentes y por la seguridad de nuestras tropas. Roguemos también por nuestros líderes. Que la sabiduría, la misericordia y la valentía del Señor Jesús abran nuevos caminos de diálogo y una armonía para que la obra por la paz pueda comenzar.
