St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in Sacramento is seeking a Director of Social Justice Ministries. This position facilitates connections among individuals, the parish, and the community to provide services addressing the causes of injustice. The Director works with parish staff and volunteers to coordinate and implement a wide range of programs which promote respect for all human rights. Responsibilities include administration of services for those in need of food, housing and clothing, those who are sick or suffering from bereavement, divorce or separation, those facing addiction. The Director also provides guidance to people seeking government resources and acts as a liaison between the parish and community sponsored outreach initiatives. This position is grounded in the Catholic Social Teaching and in the principle that we are called as Christians to work for justice and peace.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in the areas of social services, human services, social work, sociology, psychology, religious studies, or theology. A master’s degree is preferred. Applicants must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in advocacy and social service. Proficiency in Microsoft products is required. The candidate should be a practicing Catholic. This position is 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday for 6 hours each day, with some scheduling flexibility. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and a full benefits package is provided. The position is open until filled.
