In our own country, nearly 46 million people struggle in poverty, many despite working full time. One in six people live in poverty. Within our community of believers we do make a difference-when we support the work of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), which is committed to helping people create permanent solutions to the problem of poverty in their community. You can help break the cycle of poverty.
Parishes in the Diocese of Sacramento will conduct a special collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development during weekend liturgies. The collection supports programs that empower people to identify and address obstacles as they work to make permanent and positive changes for their communities, addressing the causes of poverty and providing a sustainable future for people across the country who struggle. In addition, 25 percent of the funds collected will remain in the Diocese of Sacramento to fund local anti-poverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and work on the margins.
